this redactor who provided the transition at the beginning of 17:17 for incorporating the story of the sick child (v 20, anticipating the prayer of Elijah in v 21, is a later gloss raising a theological question not contemplated by the original narrative). It is he also who inserted expansions at 18:3b–4, 10–11, and 13–14.
